Yesterday we spent about four hours comparison shopping dryers, trying to get the best deal we could. We visited Best Buy, Home Depot, and Sears pouring over their ads and walking the aisles comparing prices and brands. We even looked at the scratch and dent models available, unfortunately the cheapest one we found was close to $500 (a good deal when it originally cost over $700, but more than we wanted to spend).
We ended up buying a Whirlpool 6.5 cu ft super capacity dryer at Best Buy for $299.99 on sale (originally $349), plus $44.99 delivery and $23.25 tax. We don't have a way to get it to our house so delivery was not an option, however we did go with the cheaper delivery of the two available. For $20 more they will hook up the new dryer and haul away the old dryer, but my husband knows how to hook it up and we are going to try to sell our old dryer for $50 to someone who knows how to work on them and can fix it.
I hated having to put this on a credit card, but we did get six months no interest and we are hoping that we will have it paid off by then.
