Our baby was fully weaned to formula at around eight months, and it didn't dawn on me that we were not budgeting for buying formula full time until a few weeks ago. My husband and I were going over last months budget, and our new one for this month, and it just hit me that formula is the main reason we have been going over budget on groceries by more than $100 each month. For the next three months (until our daughter turns one) we will have to continue spending between $100 - $125 per month on formula. I'm just glad it is only for three more months!

Have you already gotten all the discounted coupons and free formula checks from all of the formula manufacturers? If you sign up at each and ever manufacture website you can get free formula and then some great coupons. If you have already done that do you buy your formula at Costco? I used to buy their generic brand and thought I was only spending around $50 a month on formula...good luck, I bet you can't wait to be able to change her to milk!
I have already gotten the free formula and coupons from Enfamil, but not Similac...I will check out their website and see what I can sign up for. We don't have a Costco near us, and don't have a membership. I have bought Target brand formula, which is about half the cost, but the closest Target is 45 miles away so we don't go very often.
I am pretty sure Nestle Good Start gives free formula too, try them. Also when your husband is laid off wouldn't you qualify for WIC where they give free formula? Good luck, sometimes people on craigslist are nice enough to give away discount coupons too...you could write a post asking explaining your hubby was laid off...
We found a local (regional) grocery chain that not only has their own store brand of formula but would also print out awesome coupons for their formula when you bought it. We were budgeting $70/mo but I had so much stockpiled that we haven't actually bought any formula since Dec & he will (hopefully) be transitioning to milk in April.
i'm pretty sure i will get hate mail for this (lol), but formula is a waste of money if your baby is that old. if she's eating a balanced diet of table food, there's no nutritional need for formula. i stopped nursing at 5 months with my 1st child, 10 months with my 2nd, and 9 months with my 3rd. we didn't "DO" formula.
just my two cents.
