My husband started his new job Monday and it seems to be going well for him so far, although his manager has called in sick both days so he has yet to work with him. One really great perk that my husband is excited about is the dress code, which is basically anything goes (with the exception of vulgar or otherwise offensive language or pictures, or dirty clothes). He gets to wear jeans and t-shirts everyday, and shorts and flip-flops during the summer...how cool is that?!
He has already gotten signed up for direct deposit, and payday is the 15th and the 30th of every month. I really prefer (and am used to) getting paid every other Friday, so this may take a little getting used to.
As far as benefits go we need to decide which health option we want, and there are quite a few. The company gives him a monthly allowance of $350 towards his health, dental and vision premiums which is awesome, but the premiums are pretty high since this is a small company (only around 70-80 employees). I also need to figure out if the dental plan is worth the cost, for our family it will be $120 per month (plus co-pay and deductible when it applies). Vision is pretty cheap (around $15 per month if I remember correctly) so we will probably go ahead and do that.
We have had a lot of things change for us over the past three months since my husband was laid-off. I am just so thankful that he has a job again, we have a place to live, and food on the table!

Wow, great news! Insurance is a perk as well.
Just for reference, we are self-employed and carry our own insurance, I have added in dental which covers, well not much, but if you go for both 6 month cleanings and check ups, it ends up saving more then the cost of $18 per month, per person. ($90 for us). I would guess that yours may cover more and would be worth the cost.
Is vision per person cost? Cheap - I wonder how they save you in the optomistrist office.
Congrats! I'm glad he was able to find a job so quickly and good luck with the health insurance decisions.
Yea! I am jumping up rejoicing for you and your fam girl! "Even the darkest hour only lasts 60 minutes" or so they say - I am glad to see the light on the other side for you. Think of all the saving you can do now! You've already been doing so amazing!
good for you guys - I hope it works well for him!!!
Have you checked to see if your children qualify for healthy families which gives medical, dental, and vision insurance? Here is the link:

Both of my friends qualify, I guess you only have to show one paycheck...you could probably show an unemployment check?
Thank you all for your comments! Thanks Angela for the link for Healthy Families Insurance for children. I checked it out and unfortunately our daughters do not qualify based on my husband's income.
