My New Vacuum

My vacuum is a sad site, in fact I can barely stand to look at it these days. In our nine years of marriage I have only had two vacuums, the first a dirt cheap Dirt Devil ($50 at Wal-Mart) and the second a hand-me-down Dirt Devil (from my mom). Neither one ever worked that great, although the hand-me-down definitely worked better than the original one. The hand-me-down (our current vacuum) won't stand up on it's own anymore because the lever thing is broken, and there are bare wires exposed on the cord (YIKES I know!). There have been many times over the past few years that I have considered getting a new vacuum, but it always came down to me not wanting to spend the money on it when mine still works (although not that well). I have now decided that enough is enough, and it is time to get a new vacuum!

I have pined over the Dyson for many years ever since that very first ad on TV so long ago, and strongly considered getting mine now, but in the end decided to wait a while longer on spending THAT kind of money on a vacuum. I poured over Consumer Reports ratings, user reviews, and the opinions of moms like me (via Cafemom) and finally settled on the Eureka 4870MZ Boss Smart-Vac Upright Hepa Vacuum. I ordered one today from Amazon.com for $147.87 with free shipping, and it is supposed to ship on the 13th. I am not as stoked as I imagine I would be if it were a Dyson, but am mildly optimistic that it will work well for me for the next few years, and one of these days there WILL be a Dyson cleaning up messes in my house.

We have a dyson, and it's a great vacuum. But it's really NOT the wonder that it's chalked up to be.

Good to know! I think someday I will still try one out just because I have always wanted one so bad, but it can wait until we are debt free.
