Mid September Harvest

Today gave us one big bowl of romas, the last of the black krim tomatoes
and the first of the bean harvest.

The stores have switched over from summer and back to school merchandise and are filled with autumn, Halloween, and harvest themed products. It certainly still feels like summer but these tomatoes and beans are harvest blessings in my book. Feeling thankful.

  1. Yum! And, it just feels so crazy good to grow (even a tiny bit) of your own food. It's sort of magical

    1. It is sort of magical. I can't even imagine what it would feel like to live off the land completely. Honestly I think I'd feel like a superwoman every day (a tired superwoman).

  2. Could you post a picture of one of those black krim sliced open? Your description on your last post was wonderful. I've never heard of them before.

    1. I'll probably use all four of the ones in the picture today so I will post a photo once I've cut into them.

    1. I wish I would have taken up gardening so much sooner! I'm only four years in.

  4. Had a B-A-D veggie year because of the heat - turns out, tomatoes don't care for 116 days any more than I do!!! The only thing that did well was the new plant I tried - asparagus beans and we got a ton of those. Hoping next year won't be so dang hot!!!!

    1. yeah, 116 degrees would for sure cook a tomatoe, gah and a person. That's just SOOOOO intense. Now I have to google asparagus beans...

  5. wonderful-I am tasting a thick BLT, or my favorite, hummus, tomato, cucumber sandwich. I bet Abe becomes a great veggie eater seeing your success.

    1. We've haven't done too many BLT's because of the price of bacon but there will for sure be some before the tomato season is up. My husband and Abe love eating the romas right from the garden. I love that they both enjoy them so much. Okay, and anything with hummus is pretty much awesome. We love the stuff!

    1. I'd can them if I had any left but they're just too easy to use up.
