Once upon a time cracked today

Once upon a time my friends and I rescued a drowning surfer during a horrible storm. The violent waves tried their hardest to pull us off the pier into the raging lake along with their most recent captive but we prevailed. The surfer survived and the Coast Guard gave us each an award and a mug.

I loved this mug. It made the most musical tinkling noise because of the ridges inside of it whenever I stirred sugar into tea or coffee. And the glass was tinted so that sometimes it was blue and sometimes it was purple, sometimes it looked solid and other times it was iridescent. I think I mostly loved it because of the memory.

Today I poured apparently too hot of water into it for my tea because it burst in half shooting a few shards of lovely blue glass in different directions around my kitchen and spraying hot water towards me (no burns; I jumped away really fast).

This incident pretty much perfectly explains the past few days here. I shall prevail but I'm feeling pretty dog gone defeated this month. Do you ever have those times when it seems like you're living in one of those disaster comedies where things just keep going wrong back to back to back?

My next post will be happy. I promise!

I'm so sorry about your mug - but nothing can replace the memory in your head!!!

    1. I'm in the little black rain cloud club right now. And I do cherish having a small thing attached to memories like this. But you are right, the memory cannot be broken.

  3. I'm sorry. I felt like that after breaking mixing bowlss my mom gave me. I hope you can find an umbrella to shield you from more rain clouds. Hold your precious family close and remember the clouds will pass.

    1. thank-you. Oh my gosh it'd be so much worse if it was something from my Grandmother or something special from my mom. That is very sad... a Christmas umbrella, hm, I like the sound of that.

  4. I think you put such high expectations on yourself for Christmas. Christmas is about celebrating Jesus and taking the time to enjoy being with your family. You excel at both of those things on a day to day basis. Try to relax and enjoy Christmas.

    1. I probably do put too high of expectations but I'm like that with most things. I haven't actually been having issues with Christmas, like everything that's broken or gone wrong... this pretty awful month could have happened anytime.

  5. Have a virtual hug. I wish I could do better for you but that's the best I can manage across an ocean

  6. I'm sorry this happened to your mug. I completely agree with ibesue's comment above- the memories will never be broken. God bless you and those who helped rescue that person.
I hope today finds you feeling a bit more chipper. Everyone has up days and down days. I have learned to appreciate the good days to the fullest and to not be too hard on myself when I have a not-so-good day.
I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed, Happy New Year! I bet your little cutie-pie is as excited as my two rascals are! :)

    1. Thank-you. Merry Christmas too you all as well!
He was SO excited. He actually woke up at 3AM but we told him it was too early so we put him back to bed... he didn't actually fall back asleep until around 5. We are all very tired :)

    1. You are a smart one! I honestly had not thought to look there. A part of me feels like that would be cheating, like that would not be the mug I was given originally but another part of me says hm, now I will be keeping a look out for one. Right now I'm planning on buying nothing for what feels like a very long time.
