Monday check in

I'm looking at another really jammed packed work week. Blah! But the cookie making yesterday was a fun way to start the new week.

It's absolutely going to be a frozen pizza for dinner night here but my father in law just gave us some more goose meat so I will definitely be making a big pot of goose stew again this week (probably tomorrow morning). On the way out of work today I planned to pick up frozen pizza and dish washer detergent (we're out). Well, instead I ended getting frozen pizza, milk, juice, cheese, and sprinkles (I have more dough in the fridge from yesterday but little Abe managed to empty three containers of sprinkles onto the cookies we made yesterday) and no dishwasher detergent. Grr. I spent way more than planned and can't run the dishwasher again tonight. BUT I'm excited about the goose stew helping to bring the spending back into check a little.

  1. The more sprinkles the better the cookie :) A man after my own heart!!! I made spaghetti squash for the first time tonight and served it like pasta with meatballs & gravy - it was not bad - did NOT taste like spaghetti (unless it was really al dente) but Ted liked it a lot better than I did. I also pulled the seeds out to dry them to plant in the garden next year - want me to send you some?

    1. Oh yes, he was certain that every bit of the surface needed sprinkles on it and he pretty much accomplished his mission. Great job with new dish! We did that a few years ago too. I have to agree with you, it's not like a subsitute for noodles but it's good but its so totally different. We really liked it but still only did it like two or three times. Maybe I should follow your lead and make that again soon.

Thank-you so much for the thought! I'm going to try to only add one or two things next year and I'm not a big fan of squash so I probably shouldn't grow them :)

  2. When I was out of dishwasher detergent and broke, I used salt, baking soda and borax and vinegar. I don't know in what proportion! The baking soda makes the dishes murky, so maybe you want to leave that off. I did that for about two weeks. The dishes were clean as ever. I just dumped a little of each into the dishwasher, probably more borax and less salt.

    1. Thanks for the tip! Two days ago I did actually put Borax and the Arm&Hammer super washing soda in but then the dishes came out with a white film, murky like you said. What did you put the salt in for? I'm NOT going to forget dish washer detergent today :)
