Thursday, Payday, ahh

The financial week is over. A new financial week begins. I don't know if it's just me but this week is going by more slowly than any week EVER. I feel like every hour of work yesterday took 3 hours to get through. It's only Thursday, which normally wouldn't be bad but yesterday felt like Friday and I'm certain today must be Saturday. But I have to leave for work in a few minutes. Blah.

I went $3.98 over budget this week and that's because I bought a $3.98 coffee from Starbucks on Monday. Ideally that'll be my coffee shop coffee for the month... ideally. I tried so unbelievably hard to stick to budget this week and to only use the cash envelope (the Starbucks purchase was debit). It was HARD work! I'm happy with the results... a practically balanced budget for the first week of December. I'm also quite enjoying the 45 goals. They really are helping to add little bits of accomplishment to each day and move me along the desired path to financial freedom. Now lets just see if I can come up with another 24 of them : )

Any daily goal suggestions???

  1. Schedule a grocery day once every other week when you buy all your groceries at once. Shop against a list and don't buy anything that's not on the list. Only buy items you have a coupon for. Buy the store brand -- not the brand name. Open bank accounts at places that give rewards (like Chase gives you $150 if you open an account and setup direct deposit, and Huntington Bank gives you $100 if you open an account with a debit card and use that card for three transactions). Start funding a Roth IRA for retirement and have automatic deductions made from your paycheck so that you don't even see the money coming out. In the spring, do your spring cleaning and host a garage sale (which goes directly into your savings -- no spending that!) I also like your idea about making some of your own stuff (like the laundry detergent) at home.

  2. How about:
trying one new recipe per month? Making a meal for a friend?
Eliminating a vice for X period of time? Journal every day?
    Going for a daily walk?

  3. Also, just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for a blog award (details on my blog). Thanks! :-)

  4. I think you need to make time for yourself everyday. It will be hard when you first have your baby to do this for yourself, but as your child grow it becomes very important.

  5. Still catching up but what about...

Give yourself a pat on the back bc you have been working HARD! Point out 1 positive thing about yourself each day!

  6. I'm not sure anyone checks back after they leave a comment but I like that one Joy!

32: Point out 1 positive thing about me!
