Saturday Syndrome

I... need... motivation.

I'm planning on not leaving the house today but I feel like there are one billion things to accomplish here. I better go make a list and a pot of coffee.

Ooh I can write, "post to blog," on my list and check it off first thing.
Ahh then I can write, "make pot of coffee," and check that off.

Most boring blog post ever!
Check.

Happy Saturday everyone!!!

  1. I create small rewards. First, I add EVERYTHING to my list: dishes, laundry, make lunch for 4 people, etc. Then, when I've done, let's say, 5-7 of the items, I take a 15 minute break to read my book. Or, to go outside for fresh air & wander around. You can do it! Productivity makes you feel empowered. :-)

    1. Brilliant! Thanks for the pep talk too goal guru :)

I think I work similarly without knowing it. I tend to skip around, say wash dishes for 15 minutes, then tackle a load of laundry, then one other task then like you said I get to sit down to read for 15 or 20 minutes or some other reward. I wouldn't have called it a reward before now but that really is an accurate description.

So far so good for today. The house still feels an absolute mess but I've accomplished a great deal already today!

  2. Posting on your blog is not boring. Making a pot of coffee is not boring. The only thing boring about this post is that there is no mention of the wonderful Abner. And by the end of the day you could doubtless rectify that.

    1. It's wonderful to hear from you. I should have e-mailed you before now. I've been wondering how the new year's been going and how your bird table is doing.

Abner was certainly a big part of the to-do's. He's been having a pretty busy new year. Yesterday his first gymnastics class of the year. Today lots of reading and workbook pages. Go, go, go, go, go!

  3. Definitely make a list of all the tiny things you have to do, that way you feel like you accomplished something (like dust living room, vacuum living room, wash sheets, etc)

    1. You're right. A long list with lots of accomplishments no matter how small can make for a very uplifting weekend.

  4. I've been up since 4:00 curling hair, rising a bus listening all day to teen choirs. Tomorrow's my Saturday. Need power ambition.

    1. After a weekend day like that, I think your Saturday on Sunday needs to be a true day of rest and relaxation. Sounds like you deserve a day of rest.
