Spending rundown today: I bought one Christmas present today: $11.98 (it was on clearance 50% off plus and additional 10%). I had been planning to buy little Abe a child's compound bow that I saw on clearance several weeks ago and then suddenly they were all gone. I thought I was out of luck on the bow but then found one today (I work in six different stores). I hadn't planned to buy it this month but I could not pass it up. He will be THRILLED! I'm not sure if I'll be giving it to him anytime soon, maybe for a birthday gift next year: $14.23 (it was also 50% off plus and additional 10%). I spent $22.22 on groceries. Tomorrow should be a no spend day.

My budget for the month is $513.62 which leaves $423.28

Average daily spending for 2015: $18.06

    1. It's a bow, you know, like bow and arrows but in my lack of knowledge I'd say a compound bow is easier to shoot. It is a real bow but a kids one. He LOVES Robin Hood and he's kind of obsessed with bow and arrows. He will love it. Don't worry, I won't ever leave him alone with it and the arrows aren't sharp. We'll use it to shoot targets at my in laws (they live out in the country)

Pretty sure this is the exact same one I just got: http://www.amazon.com/Barnett-Crossbows-1072-Banshee-Compound-Archery/dp/B00FSWMJEA/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1441313102&sr=8-2&keywords=lil+banshee+compound+bow

  2. Ok, that is what I thought but wasn't sure :) Now, the question is....can you keep it hidden until Christmas :) Speaking of.....how do you do Christmas? Do you set a limit, do you make a list of people, I'm always interested in how other people handle Christmas.

    1. Hm, that's an interesting question. We always give gifts to the same people so I guess I haven't really thought much about it. All the nieces and nephews, our parents (well I usually make something for my mom and dad). I buy a gift for my sister. She doesn't have kids and she gives gifts to everyone else in the family. I don't buy presents for my brothers and sister in laws since there are so many kids on my side (and they also don't give gifts to the "adults"). My husband gets gifts for everyone in his family: mom, dad, sister, brother in law and two nephews. His family is more, hm, expectant with gifts and his is considerably smaller than mine. Oddly enough he always spends more on his family then I do on my much bigger one. We really don't give gifts to many other people and when we do it's kind of sporadic like he'll say, "I'm planning to get a gift for this one friend," and then I'll think of someone I'd like to give a gift to as well.

      I think that's a long non-answer but that's my answer.

As far as our little three person immediate family we usually spend $300, $100 per person. That's about normal anyway. Ah, Christmas!

  3. I know....Christmas talk already :) We have really cut down on who we buy for and the fact we don't really have any contact with anyone in either of our families helps too!!! I tend to go a little nuts at Christmas, I think because I am trying to make up for being frugal all year, but why??? My kids are grown and don't really need a huge Christmas so I am really trying to rein it in this year....we'll see how it goes. I do really well all year and then halfway through December I just "have" to get a couple more things for everyone!!!! I did make a lot this year, so I am thinking a budget of $500 would be good for the 5 of us and about 5 friends.....too much, too little?
