So far so good with the 45 goals. I've done each of them each day since they've been instituted. So what if it's only been 3 days.

Today's goal I can honestly say I hate but it must be done. In 2012 I'd like to start actually doing the cash envelope thing. Dave's a smart guy and he HIGHLY recommends the cash envelope system for very good reasons. I can't stand it... I've never entirely had the discipline for it but I think I'm ready to commit. Today's goal is to cash envelope it everyday for the rest of this year and the next. Yikes.

45 Daily Goals for 2012
1. Balance the checkbook everyday
2. Get rid of something useless everyday
3. Throw some change in the Christmas jar everyday
4. Cash envelope it!

  1. I like cash envelopes, but I have to admit we don't use them now.
DH spends way more money with cash than with a debit card, I've just turned into a scrooge and I won't spend anything :)

  2. Love your goals! I can't commit to the cash envelope thing - I use a points credit card & pay it off each month. I used the points this summer to pay for 10 nights hotel in Hawaii as a gift for my parents 40th anniversary. It was the first time we've cashed the points in for a LONG time, but it was so worth it! Now we're saving our points for our own trip to Hawaii. I'm sure it will take us five years or so to accumulate that many.

I do think I'm more disciplined about spendign when I pay with cash, but it's a lot of effort & I'm a little lazy. ;-)
