March is Here

It's the great month of March! This is the month of St. Patrick's Day which is one of my favorite holidays. But, oddly, not because of beer (I've noticed that's what people tend to like most about it). St. Patrick is by far one of my favorite historical figures and thus St. Patrick's Day just makes me really happy, and I love green, and Ireland. This is also the month that dangles spring out in front of our faces, at least here in Michigan. It's just around the corner, it's just around the corner... spring is so close! Cadbury eggs are in the stores during all of March. This is a highlight of my year. My son was born in March. My brother was born in March. March really is great in my mind.

Back to business. Today I spent $77.40 on just a few things: a pretty large stock pile of shampoo and conditioner, a bag of dog food and a box of dog treats, and a few groceries. Yesterday we spent $11.31 on pizza in the big city after Disney on Ice. These few purchases bring my March spending to $88.71 already. Yep, that's an average of $44.35 a day this month. Haha!

I don't know if I'm going to need to buy shampoo and conditioner for the rest of the year though and I finally got the shampoo and conditioner that my husband likes. (to be honest it's the kind I prefer too) He's complained the last few times I've bought any because I keep buying ones that are on good sales but not one's he likes. (yes, he has long hair too)

I would really like to get the average daily spending for the year down to $17 a day by the end of this month. That leaves $410.34 for me to spend for the rest of this month; about $14.15 a day. I could pull this off. It will take a GREAT deal of planning and self control but I could pull this off. For the record $14.15 a day is REALLY low for me since I've been averaging over $17 a day for awhile now. We shall see what the great month of March brings!

Average daily spending for 2015: $18.35
$410.34 left to spend in March

My plan to keep spending down this month:
-Don't buy food while working. I did great with this in Jan. not as well in Feb.
-Don't buy any gifts this month. I've been doing a pretty good job snatching deals on gift for people ahead of time. This month I should put that mission on hold.
-Don't buy any clothes this month. Granted I've spent very little on clothes this year but much more than normal. I've been finding great deals and taking advantage of them but I would also like to put that process on hold this month to get spending down.
- As usual, try to keep "food out" purchases to a minimum. Did great in Jan. not as well in Feb.
- Plan, plan, plan out my purchases!

    1. Cadbury Cream Eggs are for sure one of the things that makes working in a supermarket very difficult! So yummy AND tempting!

    2. I did fine resisting the creme eggs, but when the caramel ones came, it was game over.

    3. Maybe there needs to be a support group for the lot of us :D

    4. Do you know that they now sell them at Halloween time too? They are called Cadbury Scream Eggs- for real!! The crème in the center is a different color- I think it's greenish- but if you close your eyes while you eat it, it tastes exactly the same!
Yeah, we really do need a support group, don't we?! lol. :)

    5. Oh, no! I have not seen those. Ugh, I don't think I want to either. Easter Cadbury eggs are enough temptation already. I love your "eat them with your eggs closed" mention though, haha, that's hilarious!

  2. oh and would you post the chocolate cake recipe if not a guarded secret? FIL has to limit sugar and chocolate cake is his absolute favorite so if he can only have a few bites I'd want him to truly savor them.

    1. I seem to remember those cherry kisses being really good but I haven't seen them around... I know they're seasonal. When do they come out?
